Today's Best Song Ever: "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" - Ohio Express

This chewy chunk of bubblegum dementia hit #4 on the U.S. charts in June 1968, no doubt driving all the "sophisticated" rock crowd crazy with annoyance. All the more reason to love it, say I. Anything that sucks the wind out of pretentiousness should be commended. Fun, and not being too high falutin', is what pop'n'roll is all about.

And along with fun, this song has a great guitar intro, hooks a plenty and maybe the stupidest lyrics ever: "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy/I got love in my tummy/And I feel like a-lovin you." You just know Dylan was jealous.

Critics loved the Ramones for being dumb. What about the Express? They were dumb years ahead of their time.
