The Sandinista Project features covers of every track from the classic Clash album, Sandinista!, featuring tunes by Jon Langford & Sally Timms (of Mekons fame), Amy Rigby the Coal Porters and others. It's out May 1 (that's May Day, comrade!) and proceeds benefit Joe Strummer's Memorial Forest organization and other charities.

Via Bedazzled: 1960s TV promos for "The Green Hornet," "Time Tunnel," "Bewitched," the Beatles on "Shindig" and more.

A new "Star Trek" film directed by "Lost" producer J.J. Abrams is due out Christmas 2008.

Newest installment, a prequel focusing on a young Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, is the first to be slotted for release on the holiday.

Abrams, who has been developing the project, is set to begin lensing in the fall. He is producing with his "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof.

--------------------

Alan Arkin will join his "Little Miss Sunshine" co-star Steve Carrell in a big-screen remake of "Get Smart."

Arkin will play the chief of CONTROL, the organization that fights the evil forces of KAOS. Edward Platt played the character in the 1965 TV series on which the movie is based.

Carell is on board as secret agent Maxwell Smart, with Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Terence Stamp also have been cast.
