Gates removed from Liverpool's Strawberry Fields

The gates from Liverpool's Strawberry Fields, former grounds of a Salvation Army home, have been removed and replaced with replicas to prevent further damage by overzealous Beatlemaniacs.

The Salvation Army said the 100-year-old wrought iron gates...will be taken into storage for "safe keeping".

The replacements have been made by a local specialist, Jim Bennett, and gifted to the charity.
