Newsarama is previewing DC Comics' slate of post-"Infinity Crisis" reboot comics--some of which sound pretty interesting. Encouraging is the recruitment of topflight creators such as Kurt Busiek, Walt Simonson, etc., to work on the revamped titles. I'm withholding judgment until I read a few of them.

As I understand it, this "Crisis" event is meant to maneuver DC's mainline superhero titles out of the grim'n'gritty muck they've been stuck in, dispense with confusing continuity and make the books attractive and approachable to new, younger readers. We'll see...

There's a new Beatleg podcast.

------------------------

On PBS Feb. 27, "Paul McCartney: Chaos and Creation Live at Abbey Road" sounds interesting:

In this unique concert, the legendary Paul McCartney returns to Studio 2 at London's Abbey Road Studios (where most of the Beatles' recordings were made) for a fascinating journey through his songwriting career, from his very first Beatles song to the work for his new album, CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACKYARD. Using a selection of vintage instruments from his own collection -- including the bass played by Bill Black on Elvis Presley's original recording of "Heartbreak Hotel" and the Mellotron mixing console used by the Beatles -- McCartney revisits his back catalogue in new and revealing ways before an intimate studio audience. McCartney reinterprets old songs and new songs, performs some terrific cover versions, and enlists the audience's help in a demonstration of "in the moment" songwriting and arranging. Among the songs performed are "Blackbird," "Band on the Run," "Lady Madonna," and many others.

-------------------------

And on PBS starting Feb. 22: "Monty Python's Personal Best," a six-episode special series focusing on the individual members of the comedy troupe.

Each of the five living Pythons--Eric Idle, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam--produced his own episode, choosing their personal best bits from the Monty Python TV series and films. All five, in turn, collaborated on the episode spotlighting their late comrade Graham Chapman.

The episodes air two at a time over the next three Wednesday evenings. They'll also be out on individual DVDs. More info.

Sony Legacy plans to reissue nearly everything Roy Orbison ever recorded over the next couple of years, Billboard reports.

This year alone, Legacy will reissue Orbison's entire Sun and Monument catalogs. Titles from the Jewel, MGM and Virgin catalogs will follow. Plans include a remastered version of Orbison's final studio album, 1989's "Mystery Girl" and a DualDisc edition the 1992 Virgin set "King Of Hearts," both originally released by Virgin. The latter posthumous album utilized Orbison's final vocal recordings and was highlighted by a duet with lang on "Crying" that won a Grammy for best country vocal collaboration.
